William Corbus
Mr. Corbus is sole owner of Alaska Electric Light and Power Company which received $8,000,000.00 from AIDEA on June 12, 2008.
Please read SB255 "Snettisham Refunding Bond/Muni Tax Exempt" for $100,000,000.00 which binds the 26th Alaska Legislature because it does not take effect until November 30, 2009 but is retroactive to July 1, 2007. The bill is a bunch of "double talk." It was reported on August 7, 2008 in Anchorage Daily News on A-3 "Young's defense fund gets $54,000.00, spends it" that Corbus contributed $2,500 to Young's defense fund.
William A. Corbus was appointed Commissioner of the Department of Revenue on December 9, 2002 by Governor Frank Murkowski. As Commissioner, Mr. Corbus serves as one of two cabinet officials appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation under Alaska State Statute 37.13.050. In his capacity as Revenue Commissioner, he is responsible for all the divisions and the 900 employees in Revenue, and sits on several boards, including the Alaska State Pension Investment Board as well as the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation Board.
William A. (Bill) Corbus holds a B.S. in industrial engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck Graduate School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. He served as a Lt. j.g. in the U.S. Naval Reserve, including one year as an adviser to the Vietnamese Navy in 1962-63. From 1965-69, Mr. Corbus worked for Stone & Webster in New York City providing public utility security analysis, financial planning and accounting. Bill Corbus is the retired president of Alaska Electric Light and Power, the electric company that serves the Juneau area, where he has lived since 1970. In 1970, he joined AEL&P as assistant manager, becoming general manager and president in 1978.
Bill Corbus has served on a wide array of boards, including the B.M. Behrends Bank, Key Bank of Alaska, First National Bank of Alaska and the Alaska State Pension Investment Board (1993-99). Civic organizations he has served include the City and Borough of Juneau Charter Commission in 1972, Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, Bartlett Memorial Hospital, Juneau Boy Scout Council, Catholic Community Services and Juneau Hospice and Home Care, among others.
