Larry Hartig
Mr. Lawrence L Hartig, Alaska Commissioner of Environmental Conservation http://www.dec.state.ak.us since 2007, was appointed by Governor Sean Parnell to Alaska Permanent Fund Board on November 20, 2009 replacing Emil Notti, Commissioner of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, who had been appointed by Governor Sarah Palin on February 26, 2007. Mr. Hartig holds the seat based on A.S. 37.13.050 "Two of the members must be heads of principal departments of state government, one of whom shall be the commissioner of revenue." Prior to becoming Commissioner of Environmental Conservation, Mr. Hartig had been in private practice since 1983 as an attorney with the Anchorage law firm of Hartig Rhodes Hoge & Lekisch which was founded by his father. He had worked as a landman in the Land/Legal Department of Alyeska Pipeline Service Company between 1972 and 1976. He holds a B.A. from the University of Utah and received his J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College or Lewis & Clark Law School, Portland Oregon, in 1983. He was a member of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council, and State Board of Forestry and is a current member of the Alaska Bar Association.
Mr. Hartig grew up in College Village, Anchorage, Alaska. His mother is Alice Hartig, a well known Anchorage Realtor. He has two brothers, Alan R. Hartig, Central Region Permits Officer, Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, Right of Way Section, and Glenn S. Hartig, D.O., Anesthesiologist, Alaska Native Medical Center, 4315 Diplomacy Drive, Anchorage, Alaska.
