Purpose of Alaska Permanent Fund Board Comfirmation

Alaska Permanent Fund is owned by all Alaskans. We are a group of concerned Alaskans who have been observing what the six member Board is doing for many years. Currently, there is no level of accountability at Alaska Permanent Fund. Instead, we are fed propaganda by our local news media which is about 95% owned in many states of the Lower 48 that the Fund is going up in value. Please analyze the astronomical investments in the Stock Market of APFB with their APOC 2006 Financial Disclosure Statements. Review for probable Alaska Legislative update Alaska Statute 37.13 especially A.S. 37.13.050 Composition and qualification of Board of trustees, A.S. 13.060 Term of office, and A.S. 37.13.110 Conflicts of Interest are appropriate. If it is decided that the Board should be confirmed by Alaska Legislature, there will be a great deal of public debate about these issues during the confirmation process. We are sending out a questionnaire that is posted at this site to all candidates for public office in August 22, 2006 Primary and will attempt to post their responses which must be received by us July 24, 2006. Our committee will probably send out another questionnaire after the Primary.

We believe that when you review the signatures of the unbelievably large investments in the Stock Market of APFB that you will know that your attention should be focused on this Board of Trustees. Please debate the make-up of the Board and review how much money each member is investing in the Stock Market. Is what the Board is doing based on the public interest or self-interest? Do you really think these people care about our “rainy day account?” Alaska Permanent Fund is not an endowment currently but simply a front to allow a handful of wealthy men to amass more wealth. If the current practices of Alaska Permanent Fund Board continue, the Corporation should be taxed. Download the signatures of APFB’s investments and show them to especially the gubernatorial candidates for their response as to what should be done about the lack of accountability of APFB currently. Also, talk to your Legislators and the candidates for all public offices in Alaska before the Primary, Tuesday, August 22, and the General, Tuesday, November 7, 2006.
